Gimme Shelter: Real Housing Solutions for our Community

The League of Women Voters of Butte County will host a panel discussion
on the topic of affordable housing at their Fall Coffee & Program on
Saturday, September 29 beginning at 9:30 am at the Pleasant
Valley (PV) Recreational Center, 2320 North Avenue in Chico.
This panel presentation will concentrate on practical solutions to the lack
of affordable housing in our community, including: housing the homeless,
what constitutes low-income affordable housing, and what is and will be
available into the future. The program is free and open to the public.
Invited speakers include Robert Trausch from the Chico Housing Action
Team (CHAT), Charles Withuhn from Simplicity Village, Jennifer Griggs
from the Butte County Continuum of Care, Kris Zappettini from
Community Housing Improvement Program (CHIP), Ed Mayer from the
Butte County Housing Authority, and Ron Reed, a local attorney. The
panel will be moderated by Sue Hilderbrand, Political Science lecturer,
CSU Chico.
In addition to hearing from local activists and experts about housing needs
and solutions in our community, the Fall Coffee provides an opportunity to
engage with League members and learn about on-going election activities
including voter registration and candidate forums throughout the County.
