RED BLUFF—Community Housing Improvement Program accepted a $10,000 grant award for improvements to the community room at Brickyard Creek Apartments in Red Bluff. The McConnell Fund, managed by the Shasta Regional Community Foundation, awarded the funds to CHIP and other organizations in five north state counties.
Brickyard Creek Apartments serves low and very-low income families and individuals, and is owned and managed by CHIP. CHIP will use volunteer help from board members and residents to re-paint the room add computer work stations internet access to and more.
“I’m very excited about this grant,” says Nicole Huff, Brickyard’s resident manager. I think it will make a huge difference for the residents and the community. It will also provide a great space for the parent cafes we are doing through another grant we received. “
“The McConnell Fund of the Shasta Regional Community Foundation Grant is a catalyst for change and opportunity at Brickyard Creek Apartments,” says CHIP’s Director of Rental Housing and Property Management Kris Zappettini. “Board members, residents, staff and other volunteers will help transform the community room into a welcoming space for community events, presentations, computer learning, and educational classes.”
